NORTH WEST DAYTON PARTNERSHIP BRAND CREATION
CREATING THE BRANDING FOR THE NORTH WEST DAYTON PARTNERSHIP WAS PRETTY STRAIGHT FORWARD. I STARTED WITH FINDING SOME REAL WORLD INSPIRATION. THE WEST SIDE OF DAYTON IS CONNECTED TO TO DOWNTOWN DAYTON THROUGH A SERIES OF BRIDES THAT CROSS THE GREAT MIAMI RIVER. I WENT AND FOUND SOME EXAMPLES OF BRIDGES AND TOOK SOME DESIGN QUES FROM THERE.
ALL THE ELEMENTS OF THE LOGO ARE INCAPSULATED IN A CIRCLE. I USED TWO AREAS OF GREEN TO REPRESENT NATURE AND THE BRIDGE IN BETWEEN THE TWO SPACES TO SYMBOLIZE “BRIDGING THE GAP”. AND BRIDGING THE GAP BECAUSE OF THE ACTUAL PARTNERSHIP THAT THE NWDP IS MEANT TO HAVE WITH WEST/NORTHWEST DAYTON BY BRINGING PREVIOUSLY UNAVAILBLE CONNECTIONS AND RESOURCES ACROSS THE BRIDGE. THE SUN IS A MOTIF SEEN THROUGH MY ART AND REPRESENTS A NEW BEGINING IN THIS DESIGN.
WITH THE FIRST FEW BRAIN DUMPS FOR THE INITIAL IDEAS OF THE DESIGN I WENT WITH A MORE RETRO APPROACH. THIS GAVE THE AESTHETIC OF A MORE 80S/90S RESTARUNT FEEL, WHICH WAS THE WRONG DIRECTION. BUT THE CIRCULAR AND ARCHING ELEMENTS WERE STILL APPARENT. WE DECIDED TO MOVE FORWARD WITH THOSE PIECES AS A PLATFORM AND BUILD WITH MORE DETAIL FROM THERE. FOR THE FONT TYPE A BOLD, EASY TO READY FONT WAS CHOSEN. IT WASNT TO HEAVY ON THE EYES BUT THE WEIGHT OF IT CARRIED WELL NEXT TO THE NWDP LOGO AS WELL AS ON ITS OWN.
